性狀：結(jié)晶結(jié)晶性粉末。有二氧化硫氣味。干燥時(shí)穩(wěn)定。對(duì)濕敏感。較結(jié)晶穩(wěn)定，但久貯可氧化成硫酸鈉，加熱分解為硫酸鈉和硫化鈉。溶于水，溶于甘油，不溶于乙醇。水溶液呈堿性，pH約為9。半數(shù)致死量（大鼠，靜脈）115mg/kg。有刺激性。密度：2.633；熔點(diǎn)：500°C。
用途：生化研究。制亞硫酸纖維素酯、硫代硫酸鈉、有機(jī)化學(xué)藥品、漂白織物等, 還用作還原劑、防腐劑、去氯劑等
